Outstanding Professors and Researchers

Outstanding Professors and Researchers

Universities and other employers with an active research program may petition to qualify professors and researchers for lawful permanent residence status if they can show that the professor or researcher is internationally recognized for their outstanding achievements in their field of expertise.  To demonstrate that a professor or research is internationally recognized, the employer must show that the foreign national: (1) is internationally recognized as outstanding in a specific academic field; (2) has a minimum of 3 years of experience in teaching and/or research in that field; and (3) will be employed in a tenure or tenure-track teaching position or comparable research position at a university or other institution of higher education, or in a comparable research position with a private employer that employs at least 3 full-time researchers and has documented accomplishments in the academic field of the position being offered.
